| Sandford's Galactic Gladiators role: |
Sandford is the main creator and writer for the Galactic
Gladiators saga.
The screenplay was written first but the story improved as
the collaboration grew. Does he really believe that humans
have been getting scooped, for the past many thousands of
years, by aliens who are looking to build a superior warrior
race? He's letting the story speak for itself.
|
| Comics in Sandford's life: |
Growing up in British Columbia's Okanagan Valley - famous
for fruit
orchards, winter skiing and summer water skiing - Sandford
devoured every kind of comic. He was a Spiderman and Fantastic
Four fanatic, absorbed anything he could find by Frank Miller
or Stan Lee & Jack Kirby. Walt Disney was a huge influence
in his life. He totally believes in the imagineering concept.
|
| What pop culture things really interest
Sandford at this point? |
"The tremendous popularity of Matrix, Pokeman, Spawn,
Men In Black, or even the WWF, is something that everybody
should think about who cares about popular entertainment.
You have to wonder about the mindset of the people who make
one concept a success and another not. I see some similarities
between some of our heroes in Galactic Gladiators and the
WWF heroes." he says. Pop culture favorites of Sandford's
are Frank Miller, Stan Lee, Stephen King, Spielberg, Scott
Lee and Neil Hansen.
|
| Where does he want to go with Galactic
Gladiators? |
"I think that this whole idea of humans getting scooped
by aliens, who then use the humans to create clones and genetic
mutants, for their own purposes, is fascinating. And it leads
to all kinds of possibilities for related entertainment products,
" Sandford says. He can definitely see the possibilities
for a movie! He has some major stars in mind but is not saying
who. Last word, "You know what they say, shoot for the
universe -settle for the galaxy!"
